Robert Downey Jr. joins Snap's Specs AR glasses as "Chief Customer Experience Officer"
Snap says the actor has taken an honorary role at Specs and is starting with a series of episodes that put the glasses to the test.

Snap announced on October 20, 2026, that Robert Downey Jr. has joined Specs as its honorary Chief Customer Experience Officer, or CCEO. Specs are Snap's see-through augmented reality glasses. You control them with your hands and voice.
What the role involves
Snap says Downey Jr. will help people understand what Specs can do. It says he will work across the company to explore new features, shape new Lens experiences and make original content. Snap says he will also work on hardware and in-person experiences.
"I was absolutely sold on SPECS within 40 seconds," Downey Jr. said in Snap's announcement. He said he had tested practically every wearable from the past 20 years and been largely unimpressed. He also said the glasses deliver on the promise of AR glasses made by "a certain techno optimist superhero I portrayed."
Snap co-founder and CEO Evan Spiegel said Downey Jr. "has been imagining what this technology could become for nearly twenty years."
His first project: a series of episodes
Snap says Downey Jr.'s first project is a set of original episodes that test the glasses. The first episodes show Specs helping with a workspace, golf, watching a show and learning art skills.
The episodes are on the Specs website and on YouTube. Snap says the page will update as new episodes come out.
Snap said the partnership would make its TV debut on October 20 during the New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers game. It said an episode would also air during Game 1 of the World Series on Friday, October 23.
