Grok Bot gets faster, and Cursor now sits under the same roof
The Grok Bot team says its AI assistant now finishes computer tasks three times sooner. SpaceX owns Cursor, the AI code editor, and one new plan now covers Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X.

On October 16, 2026, the team behind Grok Bot posted a thread of updates on X. Grok Bot is the always-on AI assistant from SpaceXSI, the company that started out as xAI. The headline is speed. The same company now owns Cursor, the popular AI code editor, and this week it put Grok, Grok Bot and Cursor on one plan.
What changed in Grok Bot
The Grok Bot team says tasks the bot does on its own computer now finish three times sooner on average. It says replies to everything else arrive in less than half the time. Those are the company's numbers. It has not published how it measured them.
The app also has a new look, with a new typeface, new themes and cleaner cards in the chat. The team says voice calls are faster, more reliable and better at remembering earlier conversations. Notifications now go only to the device you are using, not to every phone and computer at once.
A few changes reach outside the app. You can tag @bot in a post on X and your Grok Bot picks up the job. Once you connect your X account, it can read your X Chat messages and help sort them. Its email address now takes plus aliases, so a routine can run only when mail arrives at one specific alias. New connectors include Robinhood, Coinbase, Trello, PostHog, beehiiv and eToro, and teams can now submit their own connectors to the Grok Bot marketplace.
Those build on an update SpaceXSI listed in its changelog on October 11. That one let each bot claim its own email address and search X without a connected account. It also says a bot checks for your approval before anything it can't undo, like sending, posting, buying or deleting.
Elon Musk posted on October 15 that he has never seen anything grow as fast as Grok Bot. That is his claim. He did not give a user count in that post.
The model underneath
SpaceXSI's newest text model is Grok 4.7, released on September 21, 2026. The company calls it its most capable model for coding and office work. It says Grok 4.7 uses a new, larger base model, checks its own work more carefully, and was trained to understand how Grok Bot operates. The benchmark scores on the launch page come from SpaceXSI's own table. Developers pay $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens, the company says.
Grok 4.7 went out in Cursor and in Grok Build, SpaceXSI's coding agent, on day one. Grok 5 has not shipped. SpaceXSI's developer docs still list Grok 4.7 as the newest model. Goaeon covered Grok Voice 3.0, the new voice model behind Grok Bot's voice mode, in a separate story.
How Cursor became part of SpaceX
Cursor is made by a startup called Anysphere. In April, Cursor announced a partnership with SpaceX's AI unit to train models together. On June 16, 2026, SpaceX and Anysphere signed a merger agreement, according to a filing SpaceX made with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The deal closed on August 14, 2026. A second SpaceX filing says Cursor is now a wholly owned SpaceX subsidiary. It says Cursor's shareholders were paid in SpaceX stock, based on a value of $60 billion for Cursor. Cursor confirmed the sale on its blog the same day. It says joining SpaceX gives it access to what it calls the largest fleet of GPUs in the world, and that this should mean better models at lower cost. That is Cursor's expectation, not a result yet.
SpaceX had already bought xAI earlier in 2026, so Grok and Cursor now share a parent company.
One plan for all of it
On October 12, 2026, SpaceXSI announced The X Subscription. It bundles Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium into one plan. The company lists five tiers: Free, Plus at $8 a month, Premium at $30, Super at $100 and Ultra at $200. SpaceXSI says Premium includes what SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+ offered, which it says used to cost $90 a month together. Grok model usage is shared across Grok and Cursor.
The company says it is rolling the plan out gradually. Current SuperGrok, Cursor and X Premium subscribers can keep what they have or switch from their billing settings.
What you can try
If you already use Grok Bot, give it a computer task you timed before and see if it really feels faster. Connect X and ask it to sort your message requests. If you pay for both Grok and Cursor, check your billing settings to see whether The X Subscription would cost you less.
