ChatGPT Pro's top model can now split a job across several agents at once
OpenAI says GPT-6 Pro in the Chat tab is faster, better with tools, and can run multiple agents in parallel. It is rolling out to Pro users.

OpenAI updated the most powerful model in ChatGPT's Pro plan on October 16, 2026. The company's release notes call it GPT-6 Pro. OpenAI's post on X the same day calls it GPT-6 Astra Pro. Both say the same three things.
What changed
OpenAI says the model gives faster answers and does a better job using plugins and tools. The bigger change: OpenAI says several agents can now work on different parts of one task at the same time.
OpenAI says you can watch each agent's progress in the conversation and open a finished task to see what that agent did. Think of asking for a trip plan and having one agent check flights while another checks hotels.
How this is different from dots
This is not OpenAI's dots. Dots, launched September 29, are always-on agents that keep working between conversations on their own cloud computer. This update works inside a single chat, in the regular Chat tab, while you watch.
Who gets it
OpenAI says it is rolling out to eligible Pro users. In company workspaces, it depends on admin settings. OpenAI did not give performance numbers for the update, so there are none here.
What you can try
If you have Pro, pick the Pro option in the Chat tab and give it a task with clear separate parts, like comparing three phones on price, battery and camera. Then open each agent's finished work to check it.
