Anyone can now ride a driverless Waymo in San Antonio, San Diego and Tampa
Waymo says the three cities are open to the public as of October 14, including rides to and from San Antonio International Airport.

On October 14, 2026, Waymo said anyone in San Antonio, San Diego and Tampa can download its app and call a fully driverless ride. There is no one in the driver's seat. That is San Antonio in Texas, not San Francisco.
What changed
Waymo says it opened service in these cities earlier in the year and has carried hundreds of thousands of riders there since. The October 14 post says the service is now open to everyone in all three cities.
In San Antonio, Waymo says rides now include San Antonio International Airport. The post quotes Jesus Saenz, the city's Director of Airports, calling it a milestone for travelers.
Who it helps
Waymo's post leans on local groups. It quotes Bob Kelly of the San Diego Seniors Community Foundation, who says self-driving rides can help older adults stay independent. It also quotes Scott Young, board chair of Lighthouse for the Blind & Low Vision in Tampa, who says getting around is the biggest barrier for people who can no longer drive.
What the post does not say
Waymo's post does not list prices, hours or the exact service maps for each city. Check the app before you count on a ride.
What you can try
If you live in or visit one of the three cities, download the Waymo app and request a ride. In San Antonio, you can try it for an airport trip.
