Turo will let you rent a Tesla with Full Self-Driving (Supervised) turned on

Starting October 28, US renters can search for and book Teslas with FSD active. Turo checks it with Tesla, and you still have to watch the road.

A man in a suit sits in a car's driver's seat and reaches for its large central touchscreen.

Turo, the app where people rent out their own cars, announced a new feature with Tesla on October 26, 2026. Starting October 28, renters in the US can search for and book Teslas that have Full Self-Driving (Supervised) turned on.

How it works

Turo says it connects directly to Tesla to check whether a car really has FSD active. Car owners on Turo, called hosts, link their Tesla account. Then the FSD status shows up on their listing automatically.

TechCrunch reports that hosts can promote their cars as "Self-Driving" on their listings, based on screenshots Turo provided.

Turo says there are already thousands of FSD-enabled Teslas on the app. It also says the Model 3 and Model Y are its third- and fourth-most popular cars this year.

A free month for hosts

Turo says eligible US hosts can get a free one-month FSD (Supervised) trial. Turo did not say what happens after the trial ends.

You still have to drive

FSD (Supervised) is a driver-assistance system. It is not a driverless car. The person behind the wheel has to pay attention and be ready to take over.

Turo says renters are encouraged to read Tesla's FSD (Supervised) guide and safety rules before pickup. TechCrunch reports that renters will see warnings in the app that they must watch the software and be ready to take control at any moment. It says renters can also watch a tutorial made by Tesla.

Why Turo is doing this

"Most travelers have had limited opportunity to experience driver's assistance technology, but the demand is clear," Turo CEO Andre Haddad said in the announcement.

Turo says its own research shows 55% of Americans are interested in driverless technology for travel. It says that rises to 71% for Gen Z.
