Sweden's Government Offices block ChatGPT and Claude on work computers
Staff are being pointed to Microsoft Copilot instead. Swedish public broadcaster SVT says the block starts October 26.

Sweden's Government Offices, known in Swedish as Regeringskansliet, are blocking ChatGPT and Claude. Swedish public broadcaster SVT reported the news on October 23, 2026. Sveriges Radio's news program Ekot first reported it.
What changes
According to SVT, staff at the Government Offices will no longer be able to reach the two AI tools from their work computers.
In an email to SVT, the Government Offices wrote: "The browser interface for the AI services ChatGPT and Claude will no longer be accessible from the Government Offices' work computers from October 26."
The same email said staff can still use the ChatGPT and Claude language models through a service called Intric.
Copilot instead
SVT says staff are being pointed to Microsoft's AI tool, Copilot. SVT reports that Copilot has been approved by the Government Offices, which raised its security after reviewing the service. The Government Offices told SVT that all employees have access to Microsoft's AI tools.
Not the first Swedish agency
SVT says similar blocks were already in place at the Swedish Tax Agency and the National Board of Institutional Care. It says the Swedish Enforcement Authority is also considering the question.
SVT's report does not say why the Government Offices made the change.
